Letting My Seven-Year-Old Wear Dresses

We had a listener contact us and was wanting some advice from her fellow listeners on a issue she is having. Her seven-year-old wants to wear dresses. Not a big deal right? Well it's her seven-year-old boy. She is a little hesitant, not because she doesn't want her son wearing a dress but because she doesn't want him to be bullied by other children or laughed at. She thinks he is too young to endure the hate people will have and the ridicule he will get from not only his peers but from adults as well. She wants to know what she should do. Does she let him express himself or hold him back to save his feelings and let him venture there when he is older and more capable of handling whats to come?
