Carlos D’s Top 5

  1. If you haven’t used Netflix in a while your account may have been terminated. Netflix announced that it is asking customers who signed up and then didn’t stream anything for 12 months if they want to keep their membership or not. The company is also reaching out to those who haven’t streamed anything in the last two years and asking them the same thing. If Netflix members don’t confirm that they want to keep subscribing, their accounts will automatically be cancelled. Once Netflix terminates an inactive account it will save the account favorites, profiles, viewing preferences, and account details for 10 months, so if the person decides to sign up again their account remains as it was.
  2. If you got a text saying you got $175 worth of free groceries at Target — it’s a scam. The text tells you about the money and offers a link. If you click on it, it can install dangerous features on your phone like a virus, malware, spyware, or ransomware, all of which can put your personal information at risk.
  3. Kellogg’s has totally changed the appearance of its Froot Loops cereal’s Toucan Sam mascot. The once blue-feathered bird with an orange, red, pink, and black striped beak is now bright neon colors and looks more like a simple cartoon than a more realistic one. People aren’t happy, and the hashtag #NotMyToucanSam flooded the comment section of Froot Loops’ Instagram.

  4. A TikTok video shows Matt Corry and Connor Yates going through a McDonald’s drive-thru in the back of a pick-up truck they made into a pool. The video shows Matt reaching through the window to get two McFlurrys as Connor relaxes in the pool. But as the truck pulls away, the driver brakes suddenly, causing a huge wave to crash over the two. Videos from witnesses show the men facing waves every time the vehicle stops as it travels down a roadway. (See it here)

A Texas meteorologist has shared weather radar footage that shows a large swarm of bats being dispersed by gusts of wind from a thunderstorm. Chris Suchan, a meteorologist for WOAI-TV, says the swarm was large enough to be picked up by weather radar after emerging from Frio Bat Cave in Uvalde County Wednesday night. Suchan says the footage shows a gust front — a powerful wind created by torrential rains pushing downdrafts outward — colliding with the swarm of bats, dispersing the animals.
